Last Day at Kipevu

I am both happy and sad that this was our final day at Kipevu, but mostly, I am so proud to be a part of our first connection with the school, as well as Aga Khan Academy. Today, we went to classes 3 and 4, and had some time to play games and teach them about Canada. Again, the parents and teachers cooked a delicious lunch for us, which was rice, goat (?) stew, fresh salad with cilantro, and deep fried chicken (that I swear I saw walking around in the slums haha).

We were then given another ceremony of speeches, choir singing, and dancing. We also got many personalized gifts, like a beautiful handmade boat with Stratford Hall written on it. I am amazed at how much they give, they even made us shirts for each one of us. I will never forget their hospitality, or their generosity.

As we said goodbye to all the students, it was really nice. There are so many talented and intelligent kids at Kipevu, and I hope all the best to them. I loved their enthusiasm everyday, and how they felt they should give us as much as they can. (Many gave us gifts as well)

They say you learn much more from experience than from books, and I am really understanding that now. This trip has been so unbelievable, and it will keep getting better, especially with the safari tomorrow. I hope to blog soon, but I am getting kicked off the computer. Kwaheri! (Bye)
